AC&C Weekly Pet Post: Meet Violet, Red Flyer and Hannah

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- CBSNewYork.com and 1010 WINS are teaming up with Animal Care & Control of New York City to let you know about some of the adoptable animals looking for loving homes in the city's shelters and where the AC&C's mobile adoption unit is headed with even more great pets.

This week, we're featuring Violet, Red Flyer and Hannah.

Violet (ID#: A1027374-photo above) This adorable, friendly bunny is about three years old and three and a half pounds. Meet Violet and other great rabbits up for adoption at AC&C's Manhattan Care Center, at 326 E. 110th Street.

Red Flyer (ID#: A1027847) This handsome and friendly feline, approximately three years old, came to Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) as a stray. Red Flyer is a calm, sweet cat who enjoys being pet. Meet him at AC&C's Brooklyn Care Center, at 2336 Linden Boulevard.

Hannah (ID#: A1027465) Hannah is a playful and gentle pup of about one year. An Animal Care & Control of NYC volunteer notes, "A bit shy at first meeting, she warms up quickly, happy to roll in for some hugs and kisses." Meet this sweetie at AC&C's Manhattan Care Center, at 326 E. 110th Street.

Animal Care & Control of NYC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the only open-admissions animal shelter in New York City and takes in approximately 30,000 animals every year. AC&C's three Care Centers in Manhattan (326 East 110th Street), Brooklyn (2336 Linden Boulevard) and Staten Island (3139 Veterans Road West) are open for adoptions 12 pm to 7 pm, seven days a week.

If you're interested in one of the animals featured here, email AC&C's Adoption team at adoption@nycacc.org with the animal's name and "A#", or head directly to the Care Center where the animal is located. Please note, animals featured here may already be placed by the time you arrive, but there are hundreds of great cats, dogs, and rabbits looking for loving homes every day! You can view available animals online and at the Care Centers. AC&C Adoption Counselors will help you find the best match.

You can also meet your new best friend at AC&C's Mobile Adoption Center, which travels throughout the city. (Note: dates and locations are subject to change. Information will be updated as quickly as possible. Also check www.NYCACC.org)

Friday, Feb. 20, 1 pm to 5 pm: Council Member Paul Vallone's district office, 42-40 Bell Boulevard, Bayside, NY (Queens)

Sunday, Feb. 22, 12 pm-4 pm: PETCO Petco Sheepshead Bay, 1610 Avenue Y, Brooklyn, NY

Off-site adoption event (no Mobile Adoption Center – but dogs available at location)

Saturday, Feb. 21, 11 am-3 pm: Biscuits and Bath, 1064 1st Ave. At 58th St, .New York, NY 10022

To adopt an animal, you must have a valid photo ID, be 18 years of age or older and bring proof of current address. AC&C adoptions include vaccinations, spay/neuter, a pre-registered microchip, an identification tag, a collar and a certificate for a free initial exam at a participating veterinarian.
