2/23 CBS2 Sunday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia
CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good afternoon, everyone!

Our latest winter storm is outta here! Accumulations were generally in the 3- to 6-inch range across the region, which then turned into a slushy mess where it changed over to sleet, freezing rain and rain. The good news is we'll see some sunshine this afternoon with temps around the 40 mark! The downside? The next arctic blast is knocking on our door.

An arctic front will be moving through tonight, and winds will be picking up during the overnight hours. It looks like our high for Monday will come early in the day, and temps then will drop off into the teens. A cold northwest wind tomorrow will make it feel more like the single digits. Despite the cold, skies will be nice and bright.

The coldest temps will be overnight Monday into Tuesday. We're expecting a low of 6 in the city, which means many places north and west will drop below zero. The Tuesday morning commute will see wind chills below zero for everyone.

As of now, Wednesday looks like our best bet of getting back above freezing. We're back into the 20s again after that.
