AC&C Weekly Pet Post: Meet Jax, Chiko and Sam

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — CBSNewYork.com and 1010 WINS are teaming up with Animal Care & Control of New York City to let you know about some of the adoptable animals looking for loving homes in the city's shelters, and where AC&C's mobile adoption unit is headed with even more great pets.

This week, we're featuring Jax, Chiko and Sam.

Jax (ID# A1027370-pictured above): Jax the dog, about three years old, is a big sweetheart! The person who brought him to Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) notes he gets along well with children and strangers. Meet this handsome and very friendly boy at AC&C's Staten Island Care Center, at 3139 Veterans Road West.

Chiko (ID# A1028243): This cutie, about two years old, was brought to Animal Care & Control of NYC along with another friendly rabbit. Meet Chiko and other great bunnies up for adoption at AC&C's Manhattan Care Center, at 326 E. 110th Street.

Sam (ID# A1028356): Looking for someone to greet you with cuddles and kisses? Then Sam is your man! This super affectionate feline, about four years old, has lots of love to give. Meet Sam at AC&C's Manhattan Care Center, at 326 E. 110th Street.

Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the only open-admissions animal shelter in New York City and takes in approximately 30,000 animals every year. AC&C's  three Care Centers in Manhattan (326 East 110th Street), Brooklyn (2336 Linden Boulevard), and Staten Island (3139 Veterans Road West) are open for adoptions 12 p.m. – 7 p.m., seven days a week.

If you're interested in one of the animals featured here, email AC&C's Adoption team at adoption@nycacc.org with the animal's name and "A#", or head directly to the Care Center where the animal is located. Please note, animals featured here may already be placed by the time you arrive, but there are hundreds of great cats, dogs, and rabbits looking for loving homes every day! You can view available animals online, and at the Care Centers, AC&C Adoption Counselors will help you find the best match.

You can also meet your new best friend at AC&C's Mobile Adoption Center, which travels throughout the city. (Note: dates and locations are subject to change. Information will be updated as quickly as possible.  Also check http://www.NYCACC.org)

Saturday, February 28, 12-4pm: AC&C's Mobile Adoption Center at Petco Grand Opening, 7507 31st Ave, Elmhurst, NY 11370

Sunday, March 1, 12-4pm: AC&C's Mobile Adoption Center at Petco, Union Square, 860 Broadway, New York, NY 10003

To adopt an animal, you must have a valid photo ID, be 18 years of age or older, and bring proof of current address. AC&C adoptions include vaccinations, spay/neuter, a pre-registered microchip, an identification tag, a collar, and a certificate for a free initial exam at a participating veterinarian.
