$10K Reward Offered For Return Of Pet Pit Bull Mix 'Sugar' Who Went Missing While With Dog Walker In Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A $10,000 reward is being offered for the return of a beloved pet that vanished while in the care of a Manhattan dog walker.

Morgan Bogle was away on business on Feb. 23 when a neighbor called to say the dog walker was acting strangely and 4-year-old Sugar was nowhere in sight.

Publicist Amanda Carter, Bogle's friend, said Tuesday that police were summoned and the incoherent dog walker was hospitalized.

"It's devastating and what's worse is it's a total mystery," Bogle told 1010 WINS' Derricke Dennis.

Bogle said Sugar got away from her dog walker at 23rd Street and Second Avenue.

Supporters have plastered posters around Bogle's East Village neighborhood and beyond. There's also a #FindSugarNYC movement on Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites.

The amount of the reward has people in the neighborhood talking.

"That is a lot of money," one man said.

"This dog must be pretty special, it's like her baby," one woman said. "You can't put a price on a family member."

Bogle said the reward is just a fraction of what Sugar means to her.

"It is a lot of money, but really I just don't know how to handle it," Bogle said.

The hefty reward was donated by friends, neighbors and former Knicks player David Lee, who noticed Sugar's picture on the Internet.

The 63-pound pit bull mix is light brown with white markings on her chest, feet, nose and forehead.

Sugar is "very cuddly, very sweet, amazing with people," Bogle said.
