AC&C Weekly Pet Post: Meet Wilbur, Dom And Oreo

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — CBSNewYork.com and 1010 WINS are teaming up with Animal Care & Control of New York City to let you know about some of the adoptable animals looking for loving homes in the city's shelters, and where AC&C's mobile adoption unit is headed with even more great pets.

This week, we're featuring Wilbur, Dom and Oreo.

Wilbur (ID#A1028814- photo above): How adorable is Wilbur! This cutie, brought to Animal Care & Control of NYC at the end of February, is about six months old. Meet Wilbur and other great rabbits up for adoption at AC&C's Manhattan Care Center, at 326 E. 110th Street.

Dom (ID#A1028622) Dom is a sweet and gentle boy who enjoys being pet and knows how to rock a bow-tie. Meet this handsome pup, who's about 19 months old, at AC&C's Brooklyn Care Center, at 2336 Linden Boulevard.

Oreo (ID#A1029122) Oreo, about two and a half years old, is one sweet cookie. His previous owner notes this affectionate feline plays gently with children and other cats, and is relaxed around dogs. Meet Oreo at AC&C's Staten Island Care Center, at 3139 Veterans Road West.

Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the only open-admissions animal shelter in New York City and takes in approximately 30,000 animals every year. AC&C's  three Care Centers in Manhattan (326 East 110th Street), Brooklyn (2336 Linden Boulevard), and Staten Island (3139 Veterans Road West) are open for adoptions 12 p.m. – 7 p.m., seven days a week.

If you're interested in one of the animals featured here, email AC&C's Adoption team at adoption@nycacc.org with the animal's name and "A#", or head directly to the Care Center where the animal is located. Please note, animals featured here may already be placed by the time you arrive, but there are hundreds of great cats, dogs, and rabbits looking for loving homes every day! You can view available animals online, and at the Care Centers, AC&C Adoption Counselors will help you find the best match.

You can also meet your new best friend at AC&C's Mobile Adoption Center, which travels throughout the city. (Note: dates and locations are subject to change. Information will be updated as quickly as possible.  Also check http://www.NYCACC.org)

Saturday, March 7, 12-4pm: AC&C's Mobile Adoption Center at FENWICK KEATS Real Estate, 45 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10011

Sunday, March 8, 12-4pm: AC&C's Mobile Adoption Center at Petco, College Point, 13311 20th Avenue, College Point, NY 11356

To adopt an animal, you must have a valid photo ID, be 18 years of age or older, and bring proof of current address. AC&C adoptions include vaccinations, spay/neuter, a pre-registered microchip, an identification tag, a collar, and a certificate for a free initial exam at a participating veterinarian.
