Weather-Related Problems Cause Delays For Metro-North, NJ TRANSIT Commuters

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Trains are back on schedule again after weather-related problems caused delays for commuters Thursday morning.

There had been delays of up to 45 minutes on Metro-North's Hudson and New Haven lines after power problems in the Park Avenue Tunnel and in the area of Pelham.

In Pelham, Stamford-bound New Haven Line trains coasted up to the platform. MTA staffers with a long pole then nudged the overhead gear for a connection, WCBS 880's Paul Murnane reported. That is where trains switch from overhead to third-rail power.

NJ TRANSIT commuters were also dealing with delays up to 45 minutes to and from Penn Station due to Amtrak overhead wire problems.

Normal service has since resumed. Systemwide cross-honoring is also in effect.

In the city, No. 7 train service was snarled for about an hour Thursday morning between Times Square and Hunters Point Avenue due to a track fire. .
