1 Dead, 4 Others Injured In High-Speed Crash On Northern State Parkway

ROSLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- One person is dead and four others were injured in what appears to have been a drag race that led to a two-car crash on Long Island.

State police said the Northern State Parkway was closed for several hours overnight between exits 30 and 31 in Roslyn Heights as they investigated the crash.

Police said a BMW collided with a Chevy Malibu while going at a high rate of speed in the eastbound lanes around 11 p.m. Friday.

The injured were taken to Winthrop University Hospital and North Shore University Hospital.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Police said they don't believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
