Jets Honor Revis' Number, Return To New York With Odd Salary Figure

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Jets are thrilled to have Darrelle Revis back in New Jersey. Not only will he dramatically improve the team's secondary in 2015, but he's one of the greatest and most beloved players in franchise history.

One way the organization is showing him love? By giving him a yearly salary with special meaning.

Revis -- who signed a five-year, $70 million contract to return to the Jets -- will earn $14,024,212 per season, according to ESPN.com.

What's the catch, you ask?

The 24 is in reference to his jersey number, and the 212 is a New York City area code.

According to the website, the idea was Jacqueline Davidson's. Davidson is the Jets' manager of football administration.

Of the $70 million that Revis is owed, $39 million is guaranteed. His contract may very well be adjusted before it expires in 2019.
