NYC Food Truck Lunch: Kielbasa & Pierogies From Old Traditional Polish Cuisine

Want to take a trip to the Old Country?  Old Traditional Polish Cuisine (OTPC) serves kielbasa and pierogies just like a Polish grandmother would make. The truck is even designed to looked like a cabin in the woods.

We love kilebasa. The question walking up to the truck was how good the pierogies would be. We have cousins in rural PA who make some great pierogies, and dropped of a few bags with us a few months ago, so they are still fresh in our mind.

The Meat Lovers Combo has kielbasa, 5 pierogies, pickle spears and two slices of "Grandma's bread".

The kielbasa was long and thick, and was grilled nicely over flames. It wasn't overly garlicky or strong. In fact, it was a little on the mild side for kielbasa, but still tasty, especially dipped in grainy mustard. The serving size was on the large side, too.

The pierogies came with sauteed onions, and were really good. They were stuffed to the brim with a chopped meat mixture, and it had a slightly peppery taste. Five of them were pretty filling, and we still had the kielbasa, bread and pickles to eat.

The pickles were half-sour, which is our favorite type. Full sour pickles are too tart for us, and dill pickles are ok, but don't go with this type of food.

Even though winter is basically over, this lunch works just as well on a cool, breezy spring day. We're not sure if we would order this filling a lunch in the middle of summer, but for now, we enjoyed this lunch.

OTPC doesn't have a large menu, but what they do, they do well.
