Police: Suspect In Custody After Shot Fired At Cops In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was arrested Monday morning after firing a shot at police officers responding to a report of a home invasion in Queens, authorities said.
When officers arrived at the house on 56th Avenue in Maspeth just before 9 a.m., the suspect opened fire, but did not strike anyone, police said.
Officers did not return fire and took the man into custody.

"I heard one gunshot," witness Pawel Mackiewicz told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera. "When I looked through my window, there was like six cops arresting a suspect. He was still inside the house. They were yelling at him to come out from the house with hands up."
Video shot by Mackiewicz shows the suspect struggling as the cops try to cuff him on the sidewalk.

"He just wouldn't get in the car," another witness said. "They kept telling him to stop resisting, but he just kept fighting and he was like, 'Help me, somebody!" He's just screaming for help, and then they finally put him in the car. But you could see that he was bleeding."
The suspect was transported by ambulance to Elmhurst Hospital. Police say his injuries are minor.

Five officers were treated at the hospital, also for minor injuries from the struggle, police told WCBS 880's Alex Silverman.
A gun was recovered at the scene, CBS2 reported.
Neighbors say the area had been quiet, but has been changing recently.
"People used to be outside and everything," one man said. "Now you can smell the pot, the drugs."
