Police: LI Man Driving Drunk Crashes Car With 2 Daughters Inside

DIX HILLS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A Long Island man has been arrested after police say he crashed his car while driving intoxicated with his two daughters in the car in Dix Hills.

Mauricio Zamora, of Ronkonkoma, reportedly crashed his car while driving westbound on the Long Island Expressway Friday night around 10:44 p.m.

Suffolk County Police said his daughters, ages 9 and 11, were treated for minor injuries.

The 40-year-old has been charged with Aggravated DWI with a Child Under 15 Years Old or Younger, also known as Leandra's Law. He also faces a DWI charge as well as two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Zamora's daughters were released to their mother, police said.
