'Liquid Church' Prepares To Hold Largest Easter Egg Hunt In New Jersey History

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- It will be the largest Easter egg hunt in New Jersey history, and the prizes aren't bad either.

As CBS2's Emily Smith reported, 100,000 eggs make up the collection that will lead to the Garden State's biggest hunt ever.

"Easter is the season of resurrection. It's all about new life and celebration and that's what we will do at Liquid Church," Pastor Tim Lucas said.

Thousands of kids from pre-school to fourth grade will search for the plastic pastel eggs, in groups, on church property over two days during Easter weekend.

Some 500 volunteers will be helping to make the historic event happen.

"I had so many great memories as a child so I wanted to share that joy with other kids," Jannet Morgan said.

The eggs will go to four counties across New Jersey. Each one is already filled with toys and treats and some have iPad certificates in them.

There will be one iPad at each of the four egg hunt locations in Morristown, Mountainside, New Brunswick, and Nutley.

Organizers expect 6,000 people to take part in the event, almost double the church's weekly attendance.

The hunt is free and open to the public. Participants do not have to be a member of the church to participate.
