Jersey City Police Captain Injured In Crash With SUV Driver

 JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Jersey City police officer was injured in a crash with a sport utility vehicle on Saturday, police said.

The accident happened around 11:45 p.m. at the intersection of Beacon and Baldwin avenues, the Jersey Journal reported.

According to authorities, the SUV driver was looking for an address and made a U-turn when he realized he had just passed by it. The vehicle slammed into the police cruiser moments later, causing damage to both vehicles.

The police officer, identified only as a captain, was treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries.

The SUV driver, whose name has not been released, was cited for careless driving and making an illegal U-turn.
