'305 Fitness' Brings Miami-Inspired Exercise To Greenwich Village

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Greenwich Village fitness class has borrowed a few steps from Miami nightlife.

As CBS2's Alice Gainer reported, the exercise routine makes working out feel more like going out, to a party.

Inside of 305 Fitness it usually looks like it's time to party, but it's actually time to sweat.

"It's all about the parties, all about the fun, the music, the dancing," instructor, Brittney said.

The class is named for Miami's 305 area code. Class members jump and shake while a DJ spins. The 55 minute sessions are made up of sports drills, high intensity interval training, and dance moves.

"It's a sweaty workout. That's definitely one of the benefits of it. Obviously it's a mental release as well," Brittney said.

The idea is to disguise all of the exercise.

"I used to look at working out as a drag, something I had to fit in at the end of my day," Megan Huneck said.

Regulars said the class is therapeutic.

"It is the only thing that can help me decompress after a work day, and I leave with a smile on my face," she added.

305 Fitness is currently located in Washington and New York City, and hosting pop-ups in other cities.
