NJ Transit Riders Complain Of Funky Smell On Rail Cars
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - A funky smell is not growing on some New Jersey Transit train passengers.
The trains are kept at a rail yard about a quarter of a mile from a mulch factory in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. Officials believe the smell has permeated some rail cars.
NJ Transit spokesman William Smith tells NJ.com the agency has received 11 complaints about the smell. The agency is exploring its options.
In 2011, PATH riders complained of a mystery stink.
The New York Times brought in an expert who specializes in eliminating odors. Nothing definitive was fund, but he detected an overall moldy, mildewy stink, probably from damp conditions and poor ventilation.
