Sources: Driver Fleeing From Shooting Collides With Motorcycle In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating after a driver, allegedly fleeing a shooting, collided with a motorcycle in the Bronx.

As CBS2's Matt Kozar reported, at first glance the scene appears to be a bad traffic accident. But there's more to the story.

If you look closer at the car, you'll see a bullet hole in the passenger door, Kozar reported.

It was a violent collision at the intersection of Baychester and Nereid -- glass, metal and debris strewn across the pavement.

Police suspect the driver of the car  -- the one with the bullet holes -- may have run a red light before slamming into the motorcycle.

Sources said the car was fleeing the scene of a shooting five blocks away. The driver had been shot, Kozar reported.

Both the driver and the motorcyclist were taken to a hospital.

The shooting came as a surprise to one resident, who said it's not a high crime area. But she said she is all too familiar with crashes at this particular intersection.

"My brother four years ago got hit off his bike and broke his pelvic bone," she said. "So I don't know what exactly it is about the intersection, but something is not right."

Both the driver of the car and the motorcycle are expected to survive.
