Majority Of NJ Voters Don't See Gov. Christie As A 'Good Fit' For Oval Office

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is heading north to New Hampshire Tuesday for a work week full of speeches and tours, but back at home poll numbers are headed south.

Several days of town halls and appearances in New Hampshire might seem presidential, but according to the latest Rutgers-Eagleton Poll, registered voters in New Jersey don't see the governor in that light.

According to the poll, 69 percent said Christie would not make good a president-- a 10-point increase in negativity in just the past few months.

"I think we see New Jersey voters less and less thinking that he would actually be a good fit for the Oval Office," Poll Manager Ashley Koning told WCBS 880's Jim Smith.
