Mets Send Rafael Montero Down, Recall Danny Muno From Vegas
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Mets have called up infielder Danny Muno from Triple-A Las Vegas and sent down relief pitcher Rafael Montero.
Muno, 26, has never played in the big leagues. In seven games for Las Vegas this season, he went 4-for-19 (.211) with two runs, two RBIs and three walks. He also stole two bases.
The former eighth-round draft pick will join Kirk Nieuwenhuis, John Mayberry Jr., Ruben Tejada and Anthony Recker on the bench.
Montero, a starter by trade who came out of the bullpen this month, won't be gone for long.
Montero, 24, allowed two earned runs on four hits in 4 1/3 innings (4.15 ERA) for the Mets before being demoted. He walked four and struck out seven.
