4/19 CBS2 Sunday Evening Weather Headlines

By Mark McIntyre, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

It ended up being a pretty nice finish to the weekend - albeit cooler than yesterday's highs in the 70s and 80s! Clouds are working their way into the area this evening and we'll have a rather cool night ahead. Temps will drop into the 40s overnight - 48 in NYC. Then the rain will move in during the overnight period...

Evening Rain Deficit

...And what a bunch of rain it will be! Tomorrow will be a rather soggy day from start to finish, and we expect anywhere from 1-2" of rainfall. Some folks in southern NJ and eastern LI could pick up more than that, and we could also hear some rumbles of thunder! It will be quite gusty at times too with some wind gusts topping 35 mph. It will be another seasonable day with a high around 60 degrees. We don't expect widespread flooding of streams/rivers, just local roadways/poor drainage flooding. Thing is, we're so down on rainfall that the dry ground can handle it...and we do need the rain!

Evening 7 Day

Tuesday will start with a few lingering sprinkles/drizzle and plenty of clouds, but then the sun will return during the day. It will be milder with late day sunshine and a high of 67, and Wednesday looks partly sunny with a high of 63. When will the next rain chance be? Stay tuned for our next update!
