Police: L.I. Woman Fled Police, Crashed Car Into Fence While On Drugs

BAY SHORE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Centereach, Long Island woman was arrested Tuesday, after allegedly crashing into a fence in Bay Shore driving while high on drugs.

Jennifer Jordan, 25, was charged with criminal unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, and criminal possession of a controlled substance, Suffolk County police said.

Around 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, Suffolk County police Third Precinct Officer Craig Knudsen tried to pull over the driver at Manor Lane and Bay Shore Road in Bay Shore, police said. But Jordan allegedly fled and crashed her 2010 Volkswagen through a fence on the side of the road at the Sunrise Highway South Service Road, police said.

Knudsen arrested Jordan a short time later at Howells Road and Richland Boulevard in Bay Shore a short time afterward, police said.

Jordan was not injured, and was alone in the vehicle, police said.

Jordan was to be arraigned Wednesday in Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
