Woman, 102, Sees Herself On Video As Harlem Renaissance Dancer For First Time

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/CBS News) -- A 102-year-old woman has become a YouTube sensation, after vintage video surfaced of her performances as a dancer during the Harlem Renaissance.

As Scott Pelley, anchor of the CBS Evening News, reported Wednesday, Barker recently got to see herself on film for the very first time.

Barker danced with some of the biggest stars in showbiz during the 1930s and 1940s – including Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, and Bill "Bojangles" Robinson.

But she had never seen herself on film until Wednesday, when volunteers at the nursing home where Barker lives found the clips and brought them to her on an iPad.

"It's just fabulous! Fabulous to see these!" Barker said as she watched the video on her bed.

Watching herself some 70 years later did more than bring back memories for Barker, Pelley reported.

"Making me wish that I could get out of this bed, and do it all over again," she said.

Barker said having her videos on the Internet makes her feel connected to the world, Pelley reported.
