Islanders Defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky's Status Uncertain For Game 5 Vs. Caps

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Islanders defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky's status is uncertain for Game 5 of New York's playoff series against the Washington Capitals on Thursday.

Coach Jack Capuano met with the player at the Islanders arena before practice Wednesday. Capuano wasn't sure if Visnovsky would travel to Washington. Visnovsky did not return after being stood up by a hard-check from Capitals forward Tom Wilson deep in the Islanders zone in New York's 2-1 overtime loss in Game 4 on Tuesday night.

Wilson was penalized for charging after he sped up and then lowered his left shoulder, catching Visnovsky square in the face. Visnovsky lay on the ice for several minutes and was wobbly while getting up before skating off. The 38-year-old was also cut on the nose.

The series is tied at 2.
