Former Manalapan Mayor Gets 5 Years In Prison

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Andrew Lucas, the former mayor of Manalapan, New Jersey, was sentenced to five years in prison Friday.

Lucas Andrew Lucas was sentenced Friday on federal fraud and obstruction charges in U.S. District Court in Trenton.

A jury convicted him in September of wire fraud, identity theft, obstruction and lying to the IRS.

Prosecutors said Lucas falsified loan documents and stole a relative's identity to purchase a farm property.

They also contended that he convinced a client of his investment company to invest $250,000 in a company that didn't exist until Lucas formed it three days later, using a relative's name and social security number without the relative's knowledge.
