Police Investigating Brooklyn Hit-And-Run That Left Teen In Critical Condition

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 14-year-old is fighting for her life after a dirt bike accident in Brooklyn.

As 1010 WINS' Derricke Dennis reported, the girl was riding on the back of the dirt bike Friday around 4:30 p.m. when the driver hit a car, knocking them both off the bike on New Jersey Avenue near busy Linden Boulevard.

The driver of the car stayed on the scene, but the driver of the dirt bike got up and took off, leaving his passenger laying in the street, Dennis reported.

Neighbor Roger Francis said the dirt bikes in the area are out of control.

"They do it everywhere; Linden Boulevard, Pennsylvania -- oh forget about it, everyday," he said.

Susan Moore said she hopes the driver is caught.

"What kind of person would do such a thing?" she said.
