David Wright No Closer To Return From DL
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- When will David Wright return to the New York Mets' lineup?
Nobody knows -- not even general manager Sandy Alderson.
"It's just hard to say," Alderson told the New York Post. "He could be a week away, could be 10 days away."
The Mets third baseman hasn't played since suffering a right hamstring strain on April 14. The Amazin's won their first eight games without him but have since struggled to get the big hit, losing seven of 10.
Manager Terry Collins was hopeful his captain would be back to face the Washington Nationals on Saturday, two days after being eligible to come off the disabled list.
Now it's looking like a mid-May return is more realistic.
"Until he gets into a game situation and feels confident with the leg, we're not going to know," said Alderson, who added that Wright still isn't at 100 percent rehabbing at the team's complex in Florida.
Wright is batting .333 with one home run and four RBIs in eight games.
