"A blender. It was horrible," Nelly Garcia recalls with a laugh.

For Jenna Vrablic, the worst gift is "anything that's -- I hate to say this but -- bought in a retail store, that's already made. It's Mother's Day, so I want to feel that what I've been doing all year long means something to them."

As for the best Mother's Day gifts?

"To be honest, breakfast in bed," said Debbie Swavy, who conceded she ate cereal because that was all her kids could make.

"I think it's nice if they give me something like a gift certificate to a spa or to get my nails done. Things like that," said Jill Lewis.

"Just to have a meal with them -- out," said Sandie McDonald. "Where I don't have to cook, I don't have to clean up."

Teresa Delorenzo showed us what her mom and mother-in-law are getting.

"One of them is getting a grandmother bracelet from Alex and Ani, and then the other grandma's getting a nice pedicure," she said.

And what's on her own wish list?

"Honestly, it's the ones that thought is put into it -- the little homemade gifts from my little ones," she said.

Angela Lee is about to celebrate her first Mother's Day as a mom -- her son, Noah, is just 7 months old.

She said she would like her husband to watch the baby all day while she goes out to get a massage "or something meaningful would be if he got a friend to take some photographs for the three of us. ... We don't have good family photos."

She said she doesn't want chocolates and flowers.

As for Hsu, her favorite Mother's Day gifts are homemade cards.
