Police Claim LI Convenience Store Clerk Asked Kids To Expose Themselves For Money

HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island alleged Friday that a convenience store clerk in Huntington offered children money if they exposed themselves to him.

Bipinkumar Patel, 35, of Huntington, was charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Suffolk County police said.

Police alleged that around 7:20 p.m. Friday, two boys and two girls between the ages of 11 and 14 walked into the Jericho Convenience store, at 1058 Jericho Turnpike in Huntington. Patel confronted them and asked if they were wearing underwear, police said.

When the children answered, Patel allegedly went on to offer them money if they showed him their underwear and private parts, police said.

Officers were called to the store and arrested Patel on the spot, police said.

Patel was released from custody Friday night and was set to appear in Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip on July 7.
