Mom, Author Donating Proceeds From Children's Book To Cancer Research

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Mendham, New Jersey, mom and author is trying to make a difference in the fight against cancer by donating the proceeds of her children's book to research.

Meredith Stack's book "Patton and Peanut No More Collar" is about two dogs that live in the West Village.

"I had the idea for the book, and I kind of put it aside," Stack told CBS2's Andrea Grymes. "But my mother kept telling me, 'You know, you should do something with that book.' ... And she came down with Stage 3 ovarian cancer. And she's well now. But she said one more time, 'You should really do something with that book.' So she's amazing, and I said this is the time to do it. So I created the book and decided I was going to donate to cancer research."

Stack has a second "Patton and Peanut" book coming out soon.
