NYPD Officer Arrested On Drug Charges In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An NYPD officer was arrested on drug charges in Brooklyn this week, police said Thursday.

Officer Stacey Staniland, 29, was arrested around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 72nd Precinct, which includes Sunset Park and Windsor Terrace, police said.

She was charged with possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police did not release further details.

The Staten Island Advance reported that Staniland was on duty when she was arrested, and the Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating.

She was also arrested in December on allegations of burglary, charging that she took jewelry from the home of her then-boyfriend's mother in West Brighton, Staten Island, the newspaper reported.
