Move Over Emma And Noah, Jacob And Sophia Are Top Baby Names In NY

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Emma and Noah were the most popular baby names in the United States for 2014, but in New York? Fuhgeddaboutit.

In the Empire State, Sophia and Jacob topped the list.

The top five names for girls in New York in 2014 were: Sophia, Olivia, Emma, Isabella and Mia. For boys, it was Jacob, Liam, Ethan, Michael and Noah.

In the Garden State, the top names for girls were identical to those in New York. For boys, however, it was Michael, Matthew, Joseph, Liam and Daniel.

In Connecticut, the top names for girls were Olivia, Emma, Sophia, Isabella and Ava. For boys, it was Mason, Noah, Alexander, Jacob and Liam.
