'Dad Bod' Is Latest Trend For Men

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Guys, rub that big belly and say "thank you."

The ladies apparently love the "dad bod."

"Dad bod" is the trending term for men's bodies with just a little bit of a gut, but not considered overweight -- a guy who works out, but enjoys pizza and drinks on the weekends.

"I do have a gym membership so I'm always trying to make sure my dad bod doesn't get too out of control," Taj Walked told CBS2's Cindy Hsu.

Forty-nine years old and feeling frisky, Dan told 1010 WINS' John Montone he's earned his dad bod through "lack of exercise."

While some might call him a couch potato, Dan says the ladies call him "teddy bear."

Ralph did not think of himself as a heartthrob until Montone told him how women love the dad bod.

"Really? We are sexy with a gut?" Ralph said.

Yes, apparently some women like it.

"It's comforting," Tanya Fisher told Hsu. "It's charming. It's warm. They seem likeable."

"Hey, you know what? If I'm involved with a guy, he's not getting a supermodel," added Jamice Fisher. "It's the real deal for me, and it's the real deal with him."

One young lady confided in Montone that she loves going out with dad bods because then she knows she's better looking than the guy she's dating.

But not everyone is a fan.

"I think that it's better to have more of a hard bod," said Elizabeth Hill. "I don't know, I feel like if we're going to work out, they should work out."

And said one woman of Montone's dad bod: "No, not sexy."
