Cops Hunt For Suspects In Brooklyn Subway Beating, Robbery

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD is asking for the public's help in tracking down a group of suspects wanted for beating and robbing a teen on the L train Friday in Brooklyn.

According to police, approximately five male supects approached the teen around 3:30 p.m. on a southbound L train near the Broadway Junction station and asked him, "What gang are you in?" When the boy said he was not in a gang, the group began to punch and kick him in the face and body, police said. They then pulled him out of the train at the Atlantic Avenue stop, where they continued to assault him, stole his cellphone, sneakers and jeans, and fled, cops said.

The victim was rushed to Brookdale Hospital for treatment. He was knocked unconscious and suffered a severe injury to his right eye, authorities said.

Police have released surveillance images of two of the suspects. They are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-8477 or to submit a tip online at NYPDCrimeStoppers.com. All communications are kept confidential.
