Driver Killed After Striking City Bus On Staten Island

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police say the driver of a sport utility vehicle was killed after colliding with a city bus on Staten Island.

It happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday at Victory Boulevard and Signs Road in the Bulls Head section of the borough.

Police said a Lexus SUV headed north on Victory Boulevard hit the driver's side of the MTA bus that was traveling south.

The 32-year-old driver then struck a fence and was ejected from the car, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the bus suffered a fractured leg. The lone passenger on the bus was not injured.

Victory Boulevard was closed in the area of the crash as police investigated.
