5/31 CBS2 Sunday Morning Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good Sunday Morning!

Hopefully you were able to get outside yesterday, because we're headed for quite the unsettled next few days around here. The good news is we really do need the rain, as we're over 5 inches below normal for the year! The bad news is the showers will be heavy at times, leading to ponding and possible flooding issues in poor drainage areas.

Some scattered showers this morning will lead to more widespread activity this afternoon and evening. Any thunderstorms may contain heavy downpours. While the severe threat is low, can't rule out a few strong storms. Highs will top out around 80 for Sunday, this after four consecutive days of 85 in Central Park.

This wet weather continues right into Monday and even early Tuesday. While it won't be raining all the time, periods of showers and thunderstorms will move through, heavy at times. You'll want the umbrella handy!

This slow-moving front finally lifts off by Wednesday and the bright skies look to return for the rest of the week. Check back in soon for the latest updates.
