Slain NYPD Officers To Be Honored On 'True Blue' Jerseys

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Fallen NYPD officers Brian Moore, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu will be honored on the jerseys worn Wednesday at Yankee Stadium for Boomer & Carton's "True Blue" celebrity softball game.

WFAN co-hosts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton unveiled the uniforms during Monday morning's show. Every player will have an American flag on the left sleeve, the NYPD shield on the right, and three black patches above the heart: "BM," "RR" and "WL."

"NYPD" is stitched across the chest.

Tickets are on sale now for the star-studded event, which was organized to pay tribute to the slain officers and show appreciation for New York's Finest. General admission is $12 and will include a voucher for a future Yankees game. Proceeds will benefit the Silver Shield Foundation, the NYC PBA Widows' and Children's Fund, and the families of Moore, Ramos and Liu.

Carton said Monday morning that around 15,000 tickets have been sold.

"We'll be wearing and then signing (the jerseys) to help raise more money for the cause," Carton said. "They're beautiful."

The Yankees donated the use of their stadium for Wednesday night's game, which will be broadcast live on WFAN. Carton said the softball equipment will be provided by Mitch Modell and Modell's Sporting Goods.

Among the many celebrity participants scheduled to face the NYPD squad on June 3: N.J. Governor Chris Christie, Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan, Hall of Famer Joe Torre, New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles and St. John's head coach Chris Mullin.
