NYPD: Man Forced To Withdraw Money From ATM During Robbery Near Central Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two teens forced a man to take out money from an ATM during a robbery over the weekend in Manhattan, police said.

The 25-year-old victim was walking in Central Park near W. 107th Street and West Drive around 10:40 p.m. Sunday when the two suspects walked up to him and asked him for the time.

When he took his phone out of his pocket to check the time, police said one of the suspects snatched the device from his hand and ordered the victim to empty his pockets.

The victim complied and handed over his wallet, containing his ATM and credit cards, police said.

The suspects the forced the victim to go with them to an ATM, withdraw money and hand over the cash to them, police said.

The victim gave the suspects the money in exchange for his phone and wallet, police said.

The suspects then ran back into the park at W. 108th Street.

No injuries were reported.

The suspects are both believed to be about 15 years old.

One of the suspects is described as black man, 5'01" tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown eyes, and black hair wearing grey hooded sweatshirt, blue sweatpants, black sneakers.

The other suspect is described as a black man, 5'03" tall, with a thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and black baseball cap with white writing on front and back and black sneakers.
