Animal Care & Control Holds "Jurassic Bark" Themed Adoption Event

New York (CBSNewYork) CBSNewYork.com and 1010 WINS have teamed up with Animal Care & Control of New York City to let you know about some of the adoptable animals looking for loving homes in the city's shelters, and, where AC&C's mobile adoption unit is headed with even more great pets.

This week, AC&C is continuing it's Jurassic Bark themed adoption event, with $20 adoption fees for all rabbits and for cats and dogs over the age of seven months.

This week's featured pets are Jay the dog, Walker the cat and Peter -- you guessed it -- the rabbit!

Jay (ID# A1033946 - photo above) With AC&C since April, Jay is a super-sweet dog who loves and is loved by everyone. One volunteer calls him "the mayor of the shelter"; another, noting his gentle ways with pups, suggests "nannie dog" may be a fitting description. Meet this affectionate, approximately three-year-old cutie at AC&C's Manhattan Care Center, 326 E. 110th Street.

Peter (ID# A1039183) Peter is a sociable, approximately 18-month-old rabbit. His previous owner reports he likes to watch Law and Order. When the opening music comes on, Peter's ears apparently perk up and he turns to face the TV. Meet this adorable bunny at AC&C's Manhattan Care Center, 326 E. 110th Street.

Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the only open-admissions animal shelter in New York City and takes in approximately 30,000 animals every year. AC&C's  three Care Centers in Manhattan (326 East 110th Street), Brooklyn (2336 Linden Boulevard), and Staten Island (3139 Veterans Road West) are open for adoptions 12pm-8pm Monday thru Friday, and 10am-6pm Saturdays and Sundays.

If you're interested in one of the animals featured here, email AC&C's Adoption team at adoption@nycacc.org with the animal's name and "A#", or head directly to the Care Center where the animal is located. You can view available animals online, and at the Care Centers, AC&C Adoption Counselors will help you find the best match.

You can also meet your new best friend at AC&C's Mobile Adoption Center, which travels throughout the city. (Note: dates and locations are subject to change. Information will be updated as quickly as possible.  Also check http://nycacc.org/Events.htm)
