Man Found Dead In Water Near Goethals Bridge Off Staten Island
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was found dead in the water near the Goethals Bridge offshore from Staten Island Friday.
The U.S. Coast Guard found the man, who was believed to be in his 50s, unconscious and unresponsive in the water near the bridge at 12:53 p.m., police said. The Goethals Bridge connects Staten Island with Elizabeth, New Jersey.
The NYPD Harbor Patrol rushed the man to Holland Hook Terminal, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Police have not released the victim's identity, and have not learned how the man died or how he ended up in the water.
