Authorities Apprehend Escaped Drug Suspect In Newark
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Authorities have apprehended a drug suspect who escaped from custody at a hospital in Newark.
Martin Sanchez, 34, was being treated at University Hospital on Saturday morning when he was able to get free, police said.
It's the second similar incident this years, WCBS-880's Jim Smith reported.
Hospital visitors said they're glad cops were able to get their man.
"God forbid he had a gun and somebody would have gotten hurt or whatever, but thank goodness the caught him and now we can rest easy," Kyle said.
Authorities Apprehend Escaped Drug Suspect In Newark
Sanchez had been arrested earlier in the week. Police would not release the exact circumstances of his escape, but said that he would face additional charges.
Authorities said Sanchez was taken back into custody without incident.
