Funeral Set For Asbury Park Mother Allegedly Killed By Ex-Husband

ASBURY PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Family and friends are remembering a woman who authorities say was fatally shot by her recently divorced husband, a police officer at the Jersey Shore.

The funeral for 51-year-old Tamara Seidle will take place Monday at Holy Spirit Church in Asbury Park.

Seidle's former husband, Neptune Township Sgt. Phillip Seidle, faces murder, weapons and child endangerment charges.

Tamara Seidle was shot and killed in her car Tuesday morning after authorities say her former husband was off-duty when he chased after her with their 7-year-old daughter in his car.

After the shooting, prosecutors said Phil Seidle pointed the gun at his head and held police at bay for about 30 minutes until they were able to persuade him to surrender. He was then taken into custody.

The couple had nine children, ranging in age from 7 to 24. Their divorce was finalized late last month. Authorities say the shooting apparently was spurred by an ongoing child custody dispute.

Seidle remains jailed on $2 million cash bail.
