LIRR To Equip New Fleet Of Trains With 10 Cameras
HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The Long Island Rail Road is adding even more cameras to its trains.
The LIRR has decided to equip its new fleet of train cars with 10 cameras instead of the seven originally proposed, WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported.
To Lauren from Syosset, that sounds like a lot.

"I think 10 is too much," she said. "That's like literally, you're seeing everything. I don't understand what the point of that is."
"I think it's just this whole Big Brother watching you type of theory," another woman said.
Railroad officials say 10 cameras will give 100 percent coverage, help with investigations and improve safety.
"If it's to be like safer around trains, then, yeah, I'm for it," an LIRR rider said.
The new camera-loaded fleet is scheduled to be rolled out in 2018.
