Former Nyack College Women's Softball Coach Indicted On Sex Abuse Charges

SOUTH NYACK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The former women's softball coach at Nyack College was indicted Thursday on 94 counts of sexual abuse, as well as other allegations.

Kurt Ludwigsen, 44, was indicted by a Rockland County grand jury on seven counts of coercion, 94 counts each of forcible touching and third-degree sexual abuse, and two counts of second-degree harassment, according to a news release from the county district attorney's office.

Prosecutors alleged that between February 2014 and March 2015, Ludwigsen touched members of the softball team inappropriately, according to the release.

The allegations were uncovered while the first-year head coach was traveling with the team in Arizona, CBS2 reported in April. The school said Ludwigsen was fired immediately and administrators are "committed to providing full support to the women at this time."

Ludwigsen, who also went by the name Kurt Vogner, previously ran an Internet phone company that connected callers to adult entertainment stars.

Students at the Christian college were shocked when the charges first hit the headlines back in April.

"So sad. It's disappointing," Angelo D'Amato said in April. "We put a lot of requirements and expectations especially on coaches and teachers whatever the case may be, especially that they would be held to a certain standard."

Rockland County Executive Assistant Attorney Richard K. Moran is prosecuting the case.
