6/28 CBS2 Sunday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Mark McIntyre
CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

What a murky morning it has been across the area -- but we do expect some sunshine to break out this afternoon! While the day won't remain totally rain-free, it's safe to say the heaviest rain is a thing of the past. It will be a warmer day across the Tri-State, too, and the city will get to a high temp of 79 degrees. Still a few below normal, but much better than yesterday!

Tomorrow will start off the new workweek with a mix of sun and clouds -- more sun early, a few more clouds late. It will be a touch warmer as well, and we'll get back to the 80s, with a max temp of 81 in NYC. A weak disturbance approaches tomorrow night but it looks like we'll luck out and stay dry.

Tuesday will be warmer still and a bit more humid. There is also a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms, and a few of 'em could be on the strong side with gusty winds and heavy rain ... but we'll keep an eye on that.

Check in soon for an early July Fourth forecast!
