Police: Man Threw Firework Into Squad Car, Set It On Fire, In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were on the hunt Monday for a suspect who threw a firework into a marked NYPD squad car in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.

The suspect threw the consumer-grade aerial shell firework into the squad car that was parked inside of 487 Carlton Ave., near Atlantic Avenue, police said.

The squad car caught fire, and ended up sustaining substantial damage, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male with a thin build and a short haircut. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark-colored pants, police said.

Police have released a surveillance photo.
