Ellsbury, Miller To Rejoin Yankees On Wednesday

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — The Yankees say injured outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury and closer Andrew Miller are to be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday.

Manager Joe Girardi confirmed the news on Tuesday, just hours before the Yankees were to start a three-game series with the visiting Athletics.

Ellsbury has been on the 15-day disabled list since May 20 with a sprained right knee. He was hitting .324 with 14 steals, and had scored 29 runs in 37 games at the time of his injury.

The 31-year-old outfielder has played four rehabilitation games for Class A Tampa and isn't scheduled to play again in the minors. He took part in simulated game activities Monday and was to do so again Tuesday.

He was scratched from the lineup last Tuesday with "general fatigue."

Miller had been one of the top closers in the majors prior to suffering a flexor mass muscle strain in his forearm. On the DL since June 10, Miller has thrown twice in the last week without incident.

The 6-foot-7 left-hander is 0-1 with a 1.03 ERA and 17 saves, striking out 43 in 26 1/3 innings.
