Boy, 4, Critically Injured In Fall From Window In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 4-year-old boy was in critical condition late Thursday after falling from a window in Corona, Queens.

Around 7 p.m., the boy fell out of the first-story window in a building on 50th Avenue near 98th Street in Queens, the FDNY told CBS2.

The boy landed on basement stairs, tumbling nearly two flights to the ground below, CBS2's Jessica Schneider reported. In all, he fell about 20 feet.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, treating the young child and rushing him to Elmhurst Hospital Center, officials said.

Meanwhile, police questioned a man and woman at the scene who were possibly the child's parents.

Neighbors from around the apartment building rushed out to help the child, and one of them told CBS2 how distraught the child's parents were.

"I felt very sympathetic for the woman, to see her cry like that and to see a little kid get hurt like that," said neighbor Bryan Rivera. "Like, it makes me feel a sort of way, like sadness, to see that happen to a little kid."

Police said the child will likely make a full recover from the injuries, but he remained listed in critical condition late Thursday night.
