Former President George H.W. Bush Falls, Breaks Bone In Neck

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (CBSNewYork) -- Former President George H.W. Bush has broken a bone in his neck after a fall at his summer home in Maine.

Bush's spokesman said the former president, who turned 91 last month, was in stable condition in an area hospital late Wednesday after the fall in Kennebunkport. But he will have to wear a neck brace for a while.

Bush served one term from 1989 until 1993. Last month, he was honored by his son, former President George W. Bush, as the younger bush received a "Father of the Year" award at the New York Hilton.

The senior Bush also appeared in a montage along with former President Bill Clinton, the younger Bush and President Barack Obama on David Letterman's last "Late Show" on CBS in late May.
