It was the second deadly shooting in East New York within a few hours. Odane Bentley, 22, was also shot to death on Hedgeman Avenue just after 9 p.m. Friday

As 1010 WINS' Roger Stern reported, despite the carnage, Rueben, who lives in East New York, said the area is safer than when he grew up.

"For every five killings back then -- or seven killings -- there's probably one now," he said.

Meanwhile, about a half-hour before the Brooklyn shootings, a 24-year-old man was fatally shot during a drive-by shooting in the Wakefield section of the Bronx.

The spate of violence started at 4:30 p.m. Friday in East Flatbush, when police say a teenager shot at two cars on Clarendon Road. One 20-year-old man was hit in the face and another was shot in the shoulder. Both are expected to survive.

And early Saturday morning, a man was shot in the foot on Beach Channel drive in Queens.
