Odell Beckham Confident He'll Be Ready For Season Opener Against Cowboys

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Odell Beckham Jr. missed the first four games of 2014 before exploding onto the scene and winning the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

The Pro Bowler is looking to get onto the field much quicker this season, and he's confident he'll be able to do so.

The Giants' dynamic wide receiver has been dealing with a right hamstring injury this spring, though he said on Tuesday that he's getting healthy ahead of his sophomore campaign.

"It feels a lot better, actually," the 22-year-old told the NFL Network. "I would rather be healthy than anything else."

Beckham was limited at New York's minicamp, and head coach Tom Coughlin admitted last month that he was worried about his star playmaker.

"I just don't want to go through that, what I had to go through last year," Beckham told the NFL Network in regard to the injury-plagued start to last season. "And not just for myself — just for this team."

Beckham was hampered by a left hamstring injury in 2014, and after the season it was revealed that he played his rookie season with two hamstring tears.

But despite his injury history -- and his current issues -- the receiver insists he'll be ready for Week 1 against the Cowboys, even if he's a bit banged up.

"That's the plan," Beckham told the NFL Network. "That's obviously the plan. As healthy as I can be."
