New Roy Rogers In Franklin, New Jersey Gets Big Welcome

FRANKLIN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- The hottest new restaurant in New Jersey is a fast-food classic.

The Roy Rogers in Franklin is the first with a drive-thru to be built in the Garden State since the 90s.

Owner Dipen Desai said this week's grand opening was overwhelming.

"I got a lot of response from the town, from the surrounding neighborhood," Desai told 1010 WINS' Rebecca Granet. "It was a very great opening, I did not expect that much."

At times, the drive-thru line was still backing up onto Route 23 on Thursday, two days after the big opening, Granet reported.

Customer Evelyn said she might end up coming there several times a week.

"I'll make sure I come down, just to come here," she said.

Another customer, named Dawn, said years ago the fast food chain's fried chicken was her pregnancy craving every night and will be spending some time at the new location.

"At least once a week, maybe more, depending on my money," she said.

The new Roy Rogers is one of 50 in the entire country.

The corporate owner said Flemington will be the next spot in the Garden State to get a restaurant, Granet reported.
